Reflexology and Reiki are recognised by the NHS as a Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM).

For thousands of years, reflexology has been practiced and developed in the Far East, Africa and the Americas. Over the last two decades, reflexology has risen in popularity in Europe because of its effectiveness in alleviating the symptoms of a large range of medical conditions.

Reflexology is a non-invasive and relaxing treatment which encourages the body to self-heal and brings about a change in symptom patterns. It works by applying gentle pressure to reflex points in the feet, hands and face. These reflex points correspond to different parts of the body and its organs and, by working on reflexes which are out of balance, the body is returned to its natural equilibrium.
I also offer hot stone reflexology - heat penetrates to a much deeper level than finger or thumb pressure and can reach up to 7-8 cms into the superficial layer of the muscle. This brings about physiological changes as well as improving energy flow. Hot stone reflexology heightens the level of relaxation achieved during the treatment and by lowering stress levels, the body is better prepared for healing. It takes reflexology to a different level.

Reiki, like reflexology, has been practiced for thousands of years. Today, the most common form of Reiki was developed by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century. The Usui System of Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique. It is a safe and effective hands-on healing treatment radiating from the practitioner's hands. It is used as an alternative therapy for the treatment of physical, emotional and mental conditions. Reiki helps you feel deeply relaxed, relieves emotional stress and tension as well as improving your well-being. It works by maximising the flow of energy around the body by unblocking sites of an old or new injury, trauma or emotion, focusing on the body's main Chakras located at the front of the spinal column.

75% of all illnesses are related to stress which results in our immune system being compromised. It is therefore imperative that we do whatever we can to reduce the stress in our lives, to calm down our nervous system and to ensure our bodies function as best they can.

Reflexology and Reiki can be beneficial to anyone of any age, from newborn babies to those in palliative care. Many people choose to have reflexology and Reiki on a regular basis as it helps them relax, they feel energised afterwards and it keeps the body in balance. Others choose reflexology and Reiki as they help with a number of conditions and illnesses, such as stress, anxiety, depression, osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, back pain, multiple sclerosis (MS), stroke, cancer, migraine, poor digestion, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), bladder problems, respiratory problems (including asthma), fertility and hormonal issues, pregnancy, period pain, menopausal symptoms, and insomnia.
Reflexology and Reiki work in harmony with traditional medicine and they should be seen as complementary therapies which reduce symptoms, promote self-healing rather than curing the condition.
Please note: I treat both children and adults, males and females. My clinic is wheelchair friendly.
